History of Microsoft and Java relation begins with Microsoft Visual J++ . You may do not that relationship until you read this article. But after that relationship has ended by removing sun microsystem services from Visual Studio suite toolset. However now again a new story is started with microsoft allowing their own open source Java distribution on Azure. That means Azure support for Java now through Visual Studio Code.

But Why ?

Excited right ! Yeah, why is this is becuase of MSN need to make their Azure cloud cost to be minized as much as possible. And it is supporting both Oracle JDK and Open JDK with GPL-2 licensed.

You can use Jshell which support Open JDK 11 support at Azure Cloud Shell.
